Strike Quality Score

A SimSights metric that measures the percentage of shots struck well enough to meet the smash factor and impact location thresholds for your club type.

Full Definition

Strike Quality Score is a SimSights-specific consistency metric that measures what percentage of your shots achieve an acceptable smash factor for your club group, combined with impact location if your launch monitor provides it. The smash factor threshold is club-specific — driver demands 1.44+, while a sand wedge only needs 1.08+. When impact offset and height data is available, shots must also land within the acceptable zone on the clubface. This ensures the score reflects true center-face contact, not just decent energy transfer from a compensating factor.

Formula

Percentage of shots meeting smash factor threshold (+ impact location threshold when available)

Optimal Range

70%+ is strong, 50–69% is developing, below 50% indicates inconsistent contact

Why It Matters

Consistent center-face contact is the most efficient way to gain distance without changing your swing speed. It also produces more predictable launch conditions and spin rates, making every other aspect of your game more reliable. A high strike quality score means your distance gaps between clubs will be consistent and trustworthy.
