Club Path

The horizontal direction the clubhead is moving at impact, relative to target.

Full Definition

Club path measures the horizontal direction the clubhead is traveling at impact, relative to the target line. A positive path (in-to-out) means the club is moving to the right of target for a right-handed golfer; negative (out-to-in) means moving left. Club path, combined with face angle, determines the ball's curvature.

Optimal Range

-3° to +3° for controlled shots

Why It Matters

Club path is half of the equation that determines shot shape. While the face angle determines start direction, the relationship between face and path (face-to-path) determines curve. An in-to-out path with a square face produces a draw.
