Club Acceleration Profile
A graph of how the clubhead's rate of speed change varies through the downswing.
Full Definition
Club Acceleration Profile shows how quickly the clubhead is gaining (or losing) speed at each point in the downswing. Positive acceleration means the club is speeding up; negative means it's slowing down. A well-timed swing shows strong positive acceleration early in the downswing that tapers to zero right at impact—meaning the club has just reached peak speed. Deceleration before impact signals an early release or casting pattern.
Why It Matters
Acceleration is the rate of change of speed, so it reveals swing mechanics that a single speed number hides. Consistent positive acceleration through the hitting zone indicates efficient sequencing and lag retention. Coaches use the acceleration curve to spot energy leaks, early releases, and over-the-top moves that waste power.
