Total Deviation Angle

The angle between the target line and where the ball comes to rest.

Also known as:Total Angle, Total Offline Angle, Final Deviation Angle

Full Definition

Total deviation angle measures how far offline the ball finished after rolling, expressed as an angle from the target line. This includes both the carry deviation and any additional angular change during roll. Combined with total distance, it gives the total side deviation in yards.

Optimal Range

Within 4° for consistent accuracy

Why It Matters

Total deviation angle shows your final accuracy result as an angle. Comparing it to carry deviation angle reveals whether roll is helping or hurting your accuracy. On sloped fairways, the ball may roll offline, making total deviation angle different from carry deviation angle.
