Carry Deviation Angle

The angle between the target line and where the ball lands at carry.

Also known as:Carry Angle, Carry Offline Angle

Full Definition

Carry deviation angle measures how far offline the ball landed at carry, expressed as an angle from the target line rather than a distance. A positive angle typically indicates the ball landed right of target; negative indicates left. This angle, combined with carry distance, can be used to calculate carry side deviation in yards.

Optimal Range

Within 3° for consistent accuracy

Why It Matters

Deviation angle provides a distance-independent way to measure accuracy. A 3° deviation at 200 yards is a bigger miss than 3° at 100 yards. Understanding your deviation angle helps you see accuracy patterns that might be hidden when looking only at distance offline.
