Max Height Distance

How far down the target line the ball is when it reaches its highest point.

Also known as:Max Height - Dist., Apex Distance, Peak Distance

Full Definition

Max height distance measures the horizontal distance from the starting point to where the ball reaches its apex (peak height). This metric helps understand the shape of your trajectory. A ball that reaches max height early in its flight will have a steeper descent; one that peaks later will have a flatter trajectory with more roll.

Optimal Range

Typically 55-65% of total carry distance

Why It Matters

Where the ball peaks affects how it lands. A ball that peaks early (shorter max height distance) will descend more steeply and stop faster. This metric helps you understand if your shots are "ballooning" (peaking too early) or flying optimally.
